Island Life
It’s been a month since we moved to Okinawa from Tokyo. This was something brewing in our minds for many years due to my asthma situation. The cold, dry winter in Tokyo (along with smogs) really deteriorated my health to the point I couldn’t perform live anymore. So when COVID started I switched to releasing recorded music as it was always something I’ve been doing since high school. So my focus shifted to songwriting and producing. There were songs I felt needed other people’s voices so I did several collaborations with different artists.
Back to my story about the move… My partner had always dreamed of living in Okinawa since he was in his 20’s. I wanted to move to Guam but at the moment it was just impossible to live there. Yen was weak, American healthcare was expensive and not as accessible, we quickly realized that we couldn’t afford to live there. I needed constant humidity and moderate climate and Okinawa became our ideal location.
So here we are. We’ve done our research. We’ve live in different countries so we know what it’s like to be in a culture where people’s values and customs are different. We’re ready. I’m sure there are things we didn’t anticipate, but there have always been people living here. If they can handle it so can we.
Wishing you both a peaceful but healthy life 🥰
