What this song is about:
“Noise” is basically all the unwanted information you see on social media or you hear in the real world. In the past few months in the wake of the pandemic we all turned to the internet for not only information but also for communication more than ever. And we started seeing some ugliness, people unnecessarily attacking, bullying other people while hiding behind anonymity, arguing endlessly about different issues reaching no conclusions or agreement, “revealing who they really are” all convinced they know better than everybody. It’s an open season for chaos. And in all of that chaos I’ve been feeling like there’s so much stuff I don’t need to spend time reading. Just because you see something you don’t agree with, you don’t need to leave scathing comments. Yet some people can’t resist the urge to “teach them a lesson.” Freedom of speech? Of course. But I draw the line between hate and expressing your opinions. Hate is hate. And you can tune them out. Block or unfollow and curate your social media timeline or stop giving your time and attention to those who don't value you for who you are. And I’ve been feeling like this for quite some time and left some words on my Notes app. I normally try and spend more time with words I use in my songs, but for this song I just used the words I jot down then because it kinda worked.
How the song was produced:
I sometimes make short, casual “beats” on my iPad Pro using AKAI MPK Mini for fun and practice. One day I was messing around with this sample of Fender Rhodes piano, and came up with some cool drum beats to go with it. After a while I thought “hmm sounds pretty good maybe I can turn this into a song.” Then I added some bass and orchestral hits lol. If you know me at all, you’d know that I’m a 90’s kid lol. Well, I wasn’t exactly a kid in the 90’s but that was the time I listened to music a lot and that’s always going to be my biggest source of inspiration. I’ve always wanted to do a modern take on New Jack Swing. So that’s how this song came into existence.
